The Buryat Mission Team was born when Bible Fellowship adopted the Buryat people of southern Siberia in 1993. This group of Russian-speakers numbered about 560,000. There were no Buryat churches and very few Buryat Christians at that time.
As a result of many years of prayer and summer trips, there are now several Buryat-speaking churches and pastors who are reaching out to local villages. BFC's part is to support this movement by helping with training and education.
The purpose of the Buryat Mission Team is “to know the Lord Jesus Christ and make Him known,” teaching obedience to the commands of Christ to go and make disciples of all nations through evangelism, discipleship and church planting (Ephesians 1:3-14; 4:12; Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 1:8; 2:42-47; Luke 10:2).
The Buryat Mission Team is a special group of people who have felt called to go to the unreached ethnic groups in southern Siberia. The opportunities are primarily short-term summer trips with long-term goals and objectives. The team serves the Buryats through church planting, camps, training and teaching, discipleship, men’s ministry, women’s ministry, youth ministry, children’s ministry, evangelism, baptism, follow up, and counseling.
The Buryat Mission Team is under the direction of an amazing couple with two great daughters that God brought to BFC for His special purposes. If you wish to know more, or are inerested in joining the team, attend the Tuesday morning prayer meeting at 6am in Room 101, or contact the church office.
